LGBT+ issues: the focus in new teaching tools for health and social care staff
Progetto Europeo ERASMUS + "Developing a culturally competent and compassionate LGBT+ curriculum in health and social care education"
The Department of Developmental and Social Psychology of Faculty of Medicine and Psychology participates as a partner in the Erasmus + (Key Action 2) program "Developing a culturally competent and compassionate LGBT+ curriculum in health and social care education- IENE 9" with Prof. Roberto Baiocco (Associate Professor), and Jessica Pistella (PostDoc Researcher). Prof. Baiocco, coordinator of this Project, from 2008 is the Director of the Center for the Study of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity at Sapienza University of Rome ("Be as you ARE"; http://dip38.psi.uniroma1.it/strutture/servizi-di-consulenza/6-come-sei), that offers support and understanding to adolescents, young adults, couples and families who are facing problems related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
The project has six other EU partners involved: Edunet in Romania, Cyprus University of Technology, the University of Almeria in Spain, the University of Southern Denmark, MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY in the United Kingdom, and St Augustinus Fachkliniken in Germany will be collaborating on the project.
Middlesex University London academic, with Alfonso Pezzella, a Mental Health lecturer at Middlesex, awarded a grant from Erasmus+ (Key Action 2) to develop a health and social care curriculum that raises awareness about LGBT+ issues. This project builds on the work and programme developed by Irena Papadopoulos, Professor of Transcultural Health and Nursing at Middlesex. The IENE programme was established in 2008 and has since then, received funding from the European Union for eight projects.
